The short version
We keep what it takes to cut your remix and text it back: your number, your clips, and when you sent them. We never sell any of it. We never identify faces. Text DELETE and your clips are gone within 7 days.
1. What we collect
Your phone number or iMessage address, and the texts you send us.
Your clips — the video and its sound — and the remixes made from them.
When you sent each clip, and which Stitches number you texted.
A record of your agreement to our terms: your number, the time, and the version of the terms in effect.
2. What we use it for
To make your remix and text it back to everyone who filmed the moment. To keep Stitches working and safe. And, as our terms say, to improve the Stitches engine.
3. What we never do
We never sell your data. We never use your number for advertising.
4. What we count, today
We count how Stitches spreads: when a number first shows up, which clips were filmed in the same moment, and which remixes they made. We keep your number to text you back; the spread count uses a code instead, so the count itself doesn’t name anyone.
What we don’t do, today: identify faces, as the product doesn’t need it; build profiles of people; or follow you across other apps or sites. The engine’s labels for people last only while one remix is being made (see Terms §7). If that changes, we tell you before it applies to you.
5. Who helps us run Stitches
A few companies handle data for us, under contract, only to run Stitches: Linq (text messaging), Modal (computing), Cloudflare (storage), and Railway and Framer (websites). They may not use it for anything else.
6. Where it lives, and for how long
In the United States. Your clips stay in the Stitches archive until you text DELETE. Our messaging logs expire after 7 days.
7. Two words that always work
Text STOP and we stop messaging you. Text DELETE and within 7 days we remove the clips you sent; after that they’re never used in a new remix. We also replace your number in our records with a random stand-in that can’t be traced back to you. (Remixes already made belong to everyone who filmed — they were sent to them, and we can’t recall them.)
8. Anyone in a video
You don’t have to be a sender to ask us to remove or blur you — see https://stitches.nyc/safety. We answer within 48 hours.
9. Our website and demo
stitches.nyc counts visits in aggregate. The Stitches demo logs a scrambled version of your IP address (never the address itself), your kind of device, and whether you ran it.
10. Children
Stitches is for people 13 and older; the current invitation demo is 18+. If we learn we hold a child’s data, we delete it and block the number.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, or delete the data we hold about you. Text us at the number above and we’ll take care of it.
12. Changes
This policy covers Stitches as it is today — a pre-MVP test. A later version of Stitches gets a new policy, and we’ll ask for your consent to it. Clips you sent under this policy stay under this policy; a new one never reaches back to them.
