The short version

You text clips of a moment. Stitches cuts one video from everyone’s clips and texts it back to everyone who sent one. Your clips make your remix. You must have the right to send what you send. You can leave, and take your clips with you, any time.


1. The agreement

By texting a clip to a Stitches number, you agree to these terms. Sending it is your electronic signature (E-SIGN Act; New York ESRA) and your written consent to everything described in them. The first time you text us, we reply with a link to these terms; if you don’t agree, text DELETE and we remove your clips. We keep a record of your number, the time, and the version of the terms in effect.


2. Age

You must be 13 or older to send clips. The current invitation demo is 18+. If we learn a sender is under 13, we delete their number and their clips and block the number.


3. Your clips

You own your clips. By sending one you promise two things: you filmed it (or otherwise have the right to send it), and the people in it are okay with you filming and sharing it — the same promise every photo and video service asks of the person who uploads.


4. What you give us

A license, not ownership. You let Stitches receive, store, process, and edit your clips to make remixes of the moment you filmed; deliver those remixes to that moment’s contributors; and use clips and remixes to improve the Stitches engine. Sending a clip is also your written consent to appear in the remixes of moments you filmed. You keep your clips.


5. What you get

The remix, texted back to you. Keep it, share it — it’s yours to have.


6. The archive and the engine

Four rings, stated plainly:

  1. Your clips make your remix.

  2. The archive trains the Stitches engine.

  3. Stitches may build new Stitches things from the archive.

  4. Anybody else’s AI: never without asking you — opt-in, paid, never retroactive.


7. No face recognition

No face recognition, as it isn’t necessary for the product today. You’re in a video because you sent a clip, never because you were recognized.

To make the cut, the engine does follow people within a single moment: it needs to know that the person holding the ball is the same person in both clips, and who is speaking, so it can cut between them. Those are temporary labels (“person one”, “person two”) that exist only while your remix is being made and are thrown away when it’s done. We never match a person across different moments or different days, we never keep a face or a body signature, and we never build a list of who anyone is. Nothing the engine learns about a person in one remix can find them in another.


8. Marketing

We never show a remix with identifiable people in our own marketing, or in any advertisement, without a separate signed release from each identifiable person (parent-signed for minors).


9. Two words that always work

Text STOP and we stop messaging you. Text DELETE and within 7 days we remove the clips you sent; after that they’re never used in a new remix. (Remixes already made belong to everyone who filmed — they were sent to them, and we can’t recall them.)


10. Anyone in a video

You don’t have to be a sender. Anyone who appears in a Stitches video can ask for removal or blurring — see https://stitches.nyc/safety. We answer within 48 hours.


11. What’s not allowed

No illegal content. No intimate images shared without consent — removed within 48 hours of a valid request. Apparent child sexual abuse material is reported to NCMEC as federal law requires. Senders who repeatedly break these rules are blocked.


12. Copyright

If you believe a Stitches video infringes your copyright, text a takedown notice to +1-404-641-1262. Repeat infringers are blocked.


13. These terms, and what comes next

These terms are for Stitches as it is today — a pre-MVP test. When the product grows, it gets new terms, and we’ll ask for your consent to them.

Here’s the hard line: clips you sent under these terms stay under these terms. New terms never reach back to them — no new uses, no new kinds of processing. If you don’t agree to new terms, your clips keep these rules, or you text DELETE.

Except where the law requires. Everything above holds unless the law makes us do otherwise — a court order, a new regulation, e.g. the state. Those are outside our control. When one applies to you, we’ll tell you, if we’re allowed to.
